The Tioga Road had only just been awakened from its slumbering winter snows when I became aware of this odd wing–like lenticular cloud formation soaring in the heavens above. Taking frantic action, this image became much more skyscape than landscape. The lower margins of the snow peaked boundary anchors an otherwise abstract aerial form.
The familiar stacked cloud shapes commonly photographed are more frequently viewed at some distance near mountain tops where orographic lifting is present and a cresting wave of air, made visible by condensed water vapor, may be created (ipso facto, under the wave).
