A peaceful scene revealed itself to me early one spring morning as fog wafted lazily off the water and began burning off the mixed pine and oak forest along the Merced River. At the time, it was quite a satisfying experience to fall into the ground glass under the embrace of my view camera's darkcloth. The tranquil waters of the Merced seemingly disrupt and modify the resilient verticality of trees on its opposite shore.
