Bridalveil Falls was running full flood due to what at that time passed for a high water year in the Sierra, and ponchoed visitors were running around the parking lot attempting to escape regular dousings. Undaunted, I packed up the 5X7 view camera and proceeded up the paved trail in full rain gear. My goal was to catch the violently swollen creek as the sun fought its way through spasmodic blasts of heavy mist from the pulsing falls above. Bellows and lens protected by my rain coat, exposures were made in the split second before the shuttering wind shook my stance and soaking vapor overtook my perch.
